Entry Criteria

Our objective is to bring together the best possible class so that our students can have the best possible experience. We work closely with students both during the application process and throughout the program to ensure they fit well within this collaborative and rigorous academic environment. Each year the Rutgers Executive MBA program accepts an exclusive group of students from a broad range of professional and cultural backgrounds. The criteria for selection include the applicant’s potential for success at senior management levels and the ability and motivation to participate in a rigorous course of study while being employed.

Applicants should meet the following admissions standards:

  • A bachelor’s degree or international equivalent from an accredited university
  • At least 8-10 years of experience is preferred
  • Minimum age of 28 years old
  • Candidates with high level responsibility and international experience
  • Maturity and motivation to succeed in the EMBA
  • Proficiency in oral and written English

GMAT/GRE is not required for admission into the program. Exceptionally, candidates with other academic/professional qualifications and have substantial work experience at senior management level will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The program is open to Singaporeans, Permanent Residents and Employment visa holders. Other long term visit pass holders are to seek approval from ICA prior to submitting the application for admissions.

Fees

The tuition fee* for the 2017 starting class is SG$75,000 and covers teaching fees, all academic materials, access to the libraries, IT services, membership to The Working Capitol co-working space, weekday dinners and some breaks. The tuition fee does not include transport, accommodation and all other lunches.

Approximately,  some of our students receive full or partial sponsorships from their employers. However, some of our students also finance the Rutgers Executive MBA program 100% on their own. We encourage you to speak to your employer to fully understand the opportunities and benefits your company offers to support your educational endeavors.

* Please note that the program fees are subject to an annual review.

Entrance Awards and Scholarships

The Rutgers Business School Asia Pacific grants entrance awards to about 15 per cent of our students. These range from $5,000 to $8,000. Application forms are available during the admission process and at our Open House events. Please email info[AT]rutgers.edu.sg if you require further information.

Gaining Funding from your Company

In order to make a convincing argument that it is worth your company’s investment, you need to demonstrate that getting the degree will strengthen your understanding of the business environment and that the company will reap the benefits in the long-run. Proving how any new skills you obtain will be used within the company upon your return, and ensuring you keep reflecting on feedback on how you’ve done in your role to ensure you keep on improving and moving up. The bottom line is that you need to be fully prepared and show your employer that an investment on your education is also an investment in the company’s long-term goals.

Make sure you clearly articulate to your reporting supervisor your expected benefits to the company. Define measurements to assess how your contribution will increase during or after the EMBA in terms of skills and knowledge acquired, that will benefit both the organisation and you as an individual. During the EMBA program you will develop the skills and knowledge you need to become an effective global business leader. You will pick up skills with the core modules around the key tools and techniques such as Global Leadership and Organisational Behavior, and Financial Accounting, Marketing Management, Supply Chain Management amongst the others.

Our students have shared that the materials covered in class are sometimes applied at work the following day and learning from fellow classmates from a different industry and background gives them an entirely different perspective.

For example, the ‘Business Strategy’ module at the end of the program puts together what has been covered in the previous 17 modules that will provide students the opportunity to examine the challenges and complexities faced by businesses via case studies that covers various topics. You may also like to share with your company that the teaching methodology is highly practical where students will be put into groups to address case studies (typically Harvard Business School cases). We have a policy whereby students are rotated for group projects so that they would work with a classmate at least once in their academic career at Rutgers to ensure students benefit from the experience of their fellow classmates.
